Walking in Confidence in a World that Walks in Insecurity
“You’re too much.”
“You’re not pretty enough.”
“You’re too tall.”
“You’re too short.”
“Your body is not attractive.”
“You are not good at your job.”
“You are not a good wife.”
“You are a bad mom.”
“You are alone.”
“You can’t do anything right.”
“You are not enough.”
These are just some of the lies the enemy throws our way. I am sure we could all add many more to the list, but the point of this is to not focus on the lies of the enemy- but to shift our attention to what God has to say.
I remember walking through the store one day and God was really doing something in my heart. I remember feeling his presence so closely and being overwhelmed by his love for me- when I caught the eye of a young girl. We didn't have to say a word- but I knew as soon as I looked her in the eyes that she was struggling. Her non verbals indicated to me that she felt insecure about the way she looked and did not feel loved or valued. My heart sank. I wanted to talk to her- to share the love of Jesus with her. I wanted her to know that Christ loves her and wants his daughters to walk in confidence- not insecurity.
This troubled my heart for a while, but all I could do was pray for her. However, I think that moment shifted my mindset. The enemy lurks around trying to manipulate us into thinking that we are not good enough unless we perform a certain way. Our thoughts are powerful. He makes us question our beauty, our worth, and also who our God is.
Satan thinks he is winning by making women feel less than. He thinks he is winning at making women walk in insecurities. And if you look around you will see his ways are working- but they don’t have to work or succeed in YOUR LIFE. You have control over what the enemy does in your life- don’t give him a foothold. This took practice by repeating over myself WHAT the Lord says about me and in time- I grew to believe who the Lord says I am. As one of my favorite worship songs says, “I went to the enemy’s camp and I took back what he stole from me.” I think today- we need to go to the enemy’s camp and reclaim who God calls us to be as his daughters. Not weak, not too much, not ugly, not a bad mom, wife, etc.
But- BELOVED & FAVORED.
“But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8
When we are walking in the confidence of the Lord- there is blessing!!!
When we are walking in the confidence of the Lord- we are secure!!!
We are firmly planted, unwavering. We do not fear when the enemy or threats come our way to try and make us feel insecure- because we know where our confidence comes from!!!
So my question for you, friend is this: where is your confidence coming from?
Your clothes, makeup, being validated by others, your job, being a wife, mom, being a girl boss, ect.
While none of those things are sinful- if we pay too much attention to them we can start to place our identity and worth in them.
When our confidence comes from the Lord- GOSH- it is so sweet & good. Because our focus is not on ourselves and how we perform but on the Lord & his GOODNESS.
